It’s everyone’s favorite time of the year: chills in the air, leaves falling. The different shades of oranges, reds and browns. Here’s how to dress to truly celebrate the season.
Tip #1
Buy staple pieces you can play around with, like a black blazer, plaid flannel, fur trench, or a regular trench. With that being said, don’t get too crazy and throw a bold jacket on with jeans or bottoms that have too much going on. Keep it simple. (I promise you simple looks good.)
Tip #2
Invest in some good boots/booties. A good boot can pull a whole look together — especially leather boots. That can go with anything. Now, if you’re feeling a little bold and scandalous, a mid-thigh boot with a little heel could give you that “Dangerous Woman” feel.
Tip #3
Turtlenecks, turtlenecks, turtlenecks. Turtlenecks have come back on the scene and they come in all shapes and sizes, colors and fabrics. Snag yourself a corduroy turtleneck, regular white turtleneck (for layering), and a colorful one.
Tip #4
Add some good beanies and berets because we love a good hat for the fall to keep that noggin warm. Here’re two links for some inexpensive ones that are worth every penny: choose from the wide array Forever 21, or the surprisingly stylish hats for women at Target.
Tip #5
Matching sets! The monochromatic look is coming back and it is swarming the fashion world from trouser sets to joggers and tracksuits. Something about matching the top and bottom of an outfit with shoes that pop just makes people go crazy.
Tip #6
Scarves. You can’t go wrong with a scarf. They come in different colors, styles, and lengths. You can also reuse these scarfs and turn them into a turban.
Tip #7
Layering. Everything I listed when pulled together can create an incredible look. The fall is all about layering, pairing everything in a nice way that makes you stand out, but not for the wrong reason. Remember, no matter what you wear, the outfit doesn’t make you; you make the outfit!
