Ezan’s Playlist

Usually, I stick to new wave or synthpop, but recently I’ve been branching out to alternate rap and goth punk, which has been a really rewarding experience. I take music very seriously, and there’s a lot of stuff out there that isn’t for me, and certainly not for everyone (cough cough country music cough cough) but I’m excited to assemble this playlist together as a class to collaboratively share our favorite music. A lot of my music taste stems from whatever my dad would blast in his car or over the speakers while he cooked on repeat, which is why I’m so drawn to that grungy industrial-esque 70s/80s/90s music era. These songs are just some of many I have constantly played. I’ll continue to be experimental with my music but I always have some really familiar, nostalgia-inducing music to fall back on. It just makes me feel amped up or really somber.

Blue Monday – New Order

Classic example of 80s new wave.

Fire For You – Cannons

One of my favorite indie pop bands. Nice little song with good simple synth and guitar.

Inkwell Isle 3 Theme– Cuphead

It’s a somber smooth jazz song, plus I really like Cuphead. It’s great atmosphere and reminds me of classic roaring 20’s noir.

Saffron by MF DOOM

Very chill instrumental. I write a lot while listening to this song.

Policy of Truth by Depeche Mode

Gritty and melancholic.

Things Can Only Get Better by Howard Jones

Makes me happy just listening to it. Reminds me of my childhood

-Field of Hopes and Dreams (Deltarune Chapter 1)

-Coffin Nails (MF DOOM)

-Never Let Me Down Again (Depeche Mode)

Motion Sickness – Vestron Vulture
A relaxed yet sorrowful song. I’ve been getting more into alternate goth punk and I really like this one. Definitely give this a listen.

Pale Shelter – Tears for Fears
A classic new wave/synthpop fusion. I really liked this song, it reminds me of rainfall. It’s definitely not for everyone though.

F Song – Strawberry Guy
Really sad, gloomy song. I like it because it reminds me of my first years in high school. But in a kinda melancholic way.
