In February, Chicago High School for the Arts hosted their Black Culture Showcase, which featured a film by Chicago native, Rodney Lucas titled “Steppin’ on Water”.
The film showcased Black men and women dancing, as the film showcased and celebrated the history of stepping, a dance that began in the early 2000’s.
The Black Culture Showcase also featured a demonstration by ChiArts students, as they explored the history of Chicago through Gospel singers and praise dancers, as well as a Hip Hop mashup.
When asked what encouraging words Rodney Lucas would give to the youth, he reminded them that “One missed step does not define your life.”
Rodney Lucas describes himself as a director, producer and film writer extraordinaire who currently lives in New York.
