If you’re a high schooler, or an adult going to work every day, chances are good that you’re stressed out. Being stressed is a perfectly normal feeling that everyone goes through. Luckily, there are things you can do to combat that pesky feeling and move on with your life, and we’ve compiled a handy list for you to get through the day.
Meditation
Meditating is one of the most helpful ways of de-stressing you can find. The meaning of meditation is to “think deeply or focus one’s mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation.” Practicing it is as easy as opening up YouTube and simply looking up “meditation.” Guided meditations can last from minutes to hours and the point is to sit in silence and comprehend your current state of emotions. You just let yourself drift.
Journaling
As someone who journals, I can 100 percent say this method of de-stressing works. There’s the factor of being creative and having the control to do whatever you want in a blank book. You can journal about anything. You can have a journal just to catalogue your favorite bands, or maybe one for your thoughts and feelings. You can use it for whatever you want that relieves stress. If you need guidance, just sit back, turn on YouTube, and open up your journal. You’ll get that freeing type of feeling.
Buying a Plant
There are moments where you want to have the ability to be helpful in some way, but some people have to be busy in order to feel like they had a productive day. Instead of taking care of an actual pet, there’s the option of buying a plant. Plants all have different ways of being taken care of, but for the most part, they’re comparatively easy to deal with. By having a plant, you’re developing a hobby of taking care of something that will only benefit your positive emotions. (Trust me: It’s really hard to kill a plant).
Listen to Music
Music is a powerful thing that brings you the ability to get lost. Music can make you feel like you’re in a different place, or a different time once you become immersed in it. By listening to music, you are given the power to leave for a moment to reflect and relax for the moment being. This is a wonderful and easy way to de-stress, whether you do it while you’re doing homework, or washing dishes, music can set you free.
