Nine days after Taylor Swift released her first single in two years titled “Look What You Made Me Do,” the country-turned-pop singer released the second single off of her upcoming album, “Reputation.” The ominous name “…Ready For It?” is rumored to be the first song on the new album. There are also many speculations that “…Ready For It?” is the dark side of “Wildest Dreams” from her last album, “1989.” There are at least two obvious parallels.
There’s a line in “Wildest Dreams” that goes, “Say you’ll see me again / even if it’s just in your wildest dreams / wildest dreams” that matches pretty clearly with another line in “…Ready for It?”: “In the middle of the night / In my dreams / You should the things we do, baby.”
Also, there’s this line in “Wildest Dreams”: “Someday, when you leave me I bet these memories follow you around… Say you’ll remember me.” It’s impossible to ignore the correlation between this line from “…Ready for It?”: “Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted. But if he’s a ghost then I can be a phantom, holding him for ransom.”
Though there isn’t a music video out yet for the new single, the “Wildest Dreams” video has been out for quite some time. When Swift does decide to release the video, maybe the speculated correlations will come to life. Whatever the video is — even if it’s not related to “Wildest Dreams” — Taylor always surprises us with amazing content.
